This is an e-mail I received from Fair Tax
Hello FairTax supporters,
Remember that just last week we saw five new co-sponsors to the FairTax bill in the House of Representatives. This week we moved a little closer to enactment with the addition of two new co-sponsors to the FairTax legislation, HR 25!
Congressman Jo Bonner (AL) and Congressman Ander Crenshaw (FL) have added their names this week to the growing list of courageous legislators who are willing to buck the Washington tax lobby crowd and serve the wishes of their constituents. Congratulations to the many grassroots leaders who have brought the message to our elected officials that there is a better way to raise federal revenues.
With tax day approaching, this is a particularly good time to remind those you know that IRS audits are up 21 percent, that as much as $345 billion a year of owed taxes are never collected by the IRS, and that the estimated cost to the nation of complying with the almost indecipherable tax code is $265 billion a year. We encourage every FairTax supporter to bring a friend, neighbor or colleague to our campaign at FairTax.org. The more people who hear about our efforts, the more our grassroots support grows. That support is critical to passage of this historic legislation.
Here are a few updates and coming events for this month:
Americans for Fair Taxation (FairTax.org) brings on new leadership in Arizona. Chandler resident and business owner accepts volunteer state director role; vows to ignite support in 2006.
Houston headquarters starts FairTax training sessions again with Little Rock, Arkansas and Niceville, Florida. Click here to learn more http://www.fairtax.org/conferences.html.
Volunteers in 28 cities plan local get-togethers at post offices to pass out FairTax literature to exhausted and fed up taxpayers on April 17th. Save the date! Stay tuned for more on this.
Andy, momentum is the name of the game!
Keep up the good work. Meet with your congressman. Get petitions signed and fax or mail them into Houston: http://db.fairtaxvolunteer.org/petition.php. Our goal is to convince elected officials in Washington that our voice carries more weight than the opinions of those who manipulate the tax code for power and profit.
With a little work this can still be a country of, by, and for the people!
Thank you for all that you do,
Leo Linbeck
